Pro #6: Fast Development
Now unto the cons.
Con #1: Well Water
Most of Lehigh Acres is not on city water, so we are not connected to the main water system. If you are gonna live in Lehigh Acres, chances are you are going to have your own well, your own septic system and so it means that you're going to have to think about maintenance. You're going to have to buy things like salt and maintaining that water system. And it can be a lot for some persons so bear that in mind.
Con #2: Hurricanes
Lehigh acres, unfortunately is situated in the hurricane belt. Now because we are part of Florida and we are on the Southwest coast, we are on the gulf coast, it means that we are susceptible to hurricanes. So one thing you need to think about if you're thinking about living in Lehigh Acres is that you are going to have to plan for hurricanes. It is just a natural thing based on where we are located, so you're gonna have to think about hurricanes. However, most of the homes are built with hurricane protection, so you will have storm shutters, you will have hurricane shutters, and most of the homes are well equipped to withstand hurricanes.
Con #3: Limited Commercial Activity
it is more residential than commercial. So we are more suburban. What you're gonna find is that a lot of people live in Lehigh Acres but they travel to work outside of Lehigh Acres because you find a lot of the larger employers located not in Lehigh Acres, but in other towns on the outskirts like Fort Myers. And so you're gonna have to think about commuting to work probably about a half an hour each way. So that is something that you have to take into consideration - the time that it takes to commute to work because Lehigh Acres is more residential than commercial.
Con #4: Not a City
Lehigh Acres does not have city status. So what does that mean? It means that the environment is not upkept, it is not maintained as well as other communities that have city status. So in some areas you're going to find overgrown weeds, overgrown bushes and so on. So that is something that you might not like. However, whenever you purchase your home you can do something about it. You have control over your own environment and you can ensure that your property is maintained just the way you like it.
